Speaker 1: I'm gonna hit this logout button. Don't we? So I'm gonna shut this day out here and I am going to go over here to the power menu and I'm gonna go to shut down, but I'm not gonna shut down. So that's one thing, but we wanna take it to the next level. So from here I can launch the game and play it and it works fine. I couldn't get to work, but it might work later because that's how steam deck is a game that doesn't work now might work later very easily. Then with park worked Tacoma worked into the preach. Uh, of these games worked, uh, outta world's work among us work. And most of these were again, not every game is gonna work. And you can see some of the games that I have installed, ready to try. This is the epic game storefront right here. Uh, but everything is kind of slow in terms of loading stuff up. It's gonna take a little while because frankly, the one thing I found is, uh, the steam deck plays a lot of games. And now from right here, if I click on this, this should launch the epic games store from right within this, the desktop mode of the steam deck. So I'm gonna close that am gonna close this. I think it should work with, uh, the latest stable version as well. Um, I'm just using the latest experimental version. Then you want to go down to this compatibility button right here and you're gonna force steam play compatibility. Speaker 1: So if you're following me so far, you're pretty good to go. Uh, and that will fill in this target path and also this starting path for you. You find the, um, here we go, the epic games, launcher DOTC file. If it doesn't pop in automatically, which it might. And I've got the path right here and I'll link to another YouTube video that shows you exactly where that path is and how to find it. Uh, go down to properties and then you're gonna have to browse to where the install file is on your system. It's a lot easier if you're using a keyboard and mouse, which is easy to do one, the steam deck is great. Um, you were gonna run a right click on that. So there it is, but you can't just launch it from there. I've actually done this twice cuz I've been demoing this for people. So if I hit open and then I go and selected program to steam, it's gonna pop up there and I actually have it. I don't see anything cuz it's just looking for Linux applications now instead I do all files and there it is. And you do that by browsing and navigating to your downloads folder, wherever that is and finding it, let's see user, I'm gonna find it. You go to the games menu and right at the bottom, add a non steam game to my library. What I'm gonna do is this, this is the, this is the secret. Uh, that's gonna be hard to do because, uh, it's a windows app and, and here I am on Linux system. Now I'm not just gonna click this and run this. Speaker 1: I have the installer app for the epic games through epic installer dot MSI. Let's see small mode and that's actually pretty handy for seeing stuff at a glance here in the downloads folder, which works the same way as pretty much any other downloads folder. I'm actually gonna switch to the mini view. You can see I've got the desktop version of steam right here, and I can open it up like this. It's actually basically a Linux, a KDE Linux desktop, uh, with some steam stuff built in. It looks so a little bit like a macOS desktop. It looks a little bit like a windows desktop. And I'm gonna show you what I mean, I'm gonna start by going to not the regular steam deck interface, but going to the desktop mode, that's gonna feel fairly familiar to anyone who uses a computer. Speaker 1: The key to getting the epic game storefront running on here is to install it as a non steam game. I'm gonna walk you through how I got the epic games, games, door running on the steam deck.
